How can web design in Berkshire help increase your sales?

The world of mobile and near me searches has boomed. The growth of eCommerce and online sales is always increasing and the design of your website is crucial to the success of your business, providing marketing, on tap, 24 hours a day.

As a professional freelance web designer based in Berkshire, I can help you achieve success in your local area with a user-friendly responsive website that is built to be indexed in search engines like Google and Bing. Getting sales through your website does take time and effort, but one of the best ways of achieving regular traffic to your website is by ensuring that your website is set up to be indexed fully by search engines.

All of my websites are designed to be eye-catching and built according to your brand and as a freelance web designer in Berkshire, I ensure your site is designed and built with good SEO practices, including relevant alt tags for user experience, videos and graphics where required.

I will build pages that are relevant to your services or products, including what you offer and testimonials and trust pages to ensure that new clients will be aware of your past successes and social standing with current customers.

Your website design

The design of your website and how it displays across different devices is one of the most important things to get right.

“Responsive Design” is a term that you may have previously heard. It refers to a website design that scales down to suit the size of screen on which it is being displayed. This ensures that no matter what device your potential customer is using to visit your website, they have a great experience.

Why is this important you ask? Well, the average business website will get 40% – 50% of traffic from users on mobile and tablet devices. This number can be as high as 80% for some industries!

Does it make sense to potentially miss out on half of the potential customers that visit your website, just because it didn’t load well on their device?

TIP: If you have a current website, loading your website on your smartphone and on a tablet device such as an iPad. Is the website easy to use without needing to zoom in? Can you understand the message on your website?

Just like other technology industries, the web design industry moves forwards at a rapid pace. A design element that was a great idea and attractive in 2010, may not have the same impact on your website visitors today. It’s important to regularly review and assess your website to ensure that it still has an impact on your target audience.

Updating your website can be similar to decorating your home. Refreshing the colours of your walls or choice of furnishings can have a great impact on the look and feel of your home. The same goes for your website. Giving your website a fresh coat of paint or updating the look and feel, helps to keep you in touch with your audience and take advantage of modern design trends.

TIP: Take an objective look at your website, as if you were a potential customer. Does your website feel like it presents the right message? How does your website compare to your competitors?

User Experience

A poor user experience is one of the most common reasons for a visitor to leave your website.

How easy is your website to use for your visitors?

User Experience is quite a vast topic, but here’s 5 things that a visitor should be able to do when they reach your website:

  • Understand your message – You have around 5 seconds to capture the attention of a visitor when they come to your website. Your USP (Unique Selling Proposition) should explain what you do and who you do it for, and why the visitor should choose you over your competition. The visitor needs to know that they are in the right place.

  • Easily contact your business – Whether you want to receive enquiries via telephone, email or a well constructed paper aeroplane, you need to have clear and visible contact details on your website’s pages.

  • Navigate your site with ease – Your navigation should be intuitive and easy to use, so visitors can browse your website and engage with your content.

  • Follow a clear call to action – Every page on your website should have a purpose for your visitors. If you’re looking to generate enquiries from your website, then your Call To Action (CTA) could be an enquiry form or a button that links through to your Contact page.

  • Review trust factors – A potential customer is going to be someone who doesn’t yet trust you. Trust factors such as awards, affiliations, certifications, case studies, guarantees, testimonials and reviews, can build trust in the eyes of the visitor.

A great Berkshire independent web designer will ensure your business is represented by a beautifully made website, with a good user experience to help increase customer retention.

Berkshire Website Design FAQ's

SEO web design is the practice of creating websites that are fully accessible and indexable by search engines.

SEO-friendly websites usually get more traffic than websites that ignore search engines.

Of course, you want to put your users first. But to get the most out of your website, you want to design and develop your website with users AND search engines in mind.

All of my WordPress Websites are built to be SEO friendly, with a mobile first design, fully responsive, great user experience, simple website structures for ease of use for you and your visitors and much more.

Yes, all of my websites are custom built from scratch on WordPress by my own fair hand. I build your site according to your logo and branding and according to your business needs and requirements.

The main element I will need from you is your content. I do my best to make this process as hands off as possible for you, so you can concentrate on providing great service to your new and current clients. I do find that we get the best results when I handle the full process, however, I will be asking for your insight and feedback throughout the process.

I do work closely with a fantastic website copywriter who specialises in SEO. Let me know if you would like to include copywriting in your quote.

My goal is to provide an exceptional service that gets you results for a fair price. I only offer services that I believe will be the best strategy for your individual needs and strive to offer more value than any other company. Since my goal is to provide you with the best results, I avoid providing a generic service. This means I will be asking you questions about your business and your goals to make sure I am the best fit for your company and to provide you with an appropriate price.

You can view my standard prices here.

On average a standard brochure site should take around 2-4 weeks, however, this is hugely dependant on when I receive your content.

This is entirely up to you.

A standard 4 page website would normally include the following:

A homepage – An overview of your business, products and services

About us – A trust page with details about you or your business

Services/Products – A page to list your services or products

Contact Page – Including a form, contact details and call to actions

I can provide stock images for your website. f you provide the images, I strongly recommend that you use images that you have permission to use.

I personally can’t, however, I work with a fantastic SEO website copywriter. Let me know if you would like this service included in your quote.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is the practice of optimising a website for search engines.

If you want your website to be found on Google/Bing or other search engines you will need at least basic seo on your site. I am an SEO specialist so feel free to ask any questions.

You can read more about SEO here.

The better I understand your goals and what you’re trying to achieve, the better I will be able to help you reach those goals. Give me a call on 07595 601160 and I can help you determine a winning strategy for your business.
